The vastness of the scale of the project and his distinctive style has made it one of the main symbols of the city and one of the obligatory mass tourism. The project is based on the reconstructed versions of the projects and on the lost models (a fire in 1936, hanged during the Spanish Civil War by the Republicans to the atelier of Gaudí, destroyed a lot of design drawings of the famous architect), on the study of the portion of the building made personally from Gaudí and on a modern adaptations. Each part of the project is full of allegories and mystics Christian symbolism, because Gaudí conceived the church to be the "last great Sanctuary of Christianity" .The most striking aspects is its slender spire.
