FOREX Training Video | London Session March 31, 2008

After a fantastic 'ride the 5' down on GBP/CHF during the London session for a couple hundred pips, we had extended a little too far too fast and a retracement looked likely. In this video we build a trade plan for longing the retracement, in order to take advantage of the profit taking from the short. Using support and short term chart confirmations offered us our entry around 1.9715. By it's very nature this type of countertrend trade is far riskier than normal setups, but with an 80-100 pip potential this one had a decent risk vs. reward. However, as you will see in the video, this one did not play out during our time horizon in a comfortable fashion at all, our reward potential steadily decreased, nearly stopped us out but ultimately gave us our pips. A perfect example of how things do not always go as planned, but with discipline, and a trade plan that you do not deviate from you can keep your calm whether you win or lose. Not every trade plan is a bed of roses.

FOREX VIDEO REVIEW: London Session April 9, 2009

As London opened today we bounced decisively off of the recent range high, which was also today's M4 reversal pivot point in the 1.4770's area, and found our way all the way to the bottom of the range in the 1.4640's region, which has been clear support for days now. In this video I show how we developed a high quality short trade plan after a Fibonacci pullback to the 1.4690 zone where not only the 38.2 Fibonacci retracement sat, but also the 15m 21/55 ema cross there, today's Central pivot point at 1.4693, the hourly 5, essentially quite a bit of visual resistance overlap. While all of this overlap does not by itself in any way guarantee a drop again, it does stand to reason that GBP/USD bears would find more than a few reasons to take another shot short right there. All that was needed then was a little patience to await price action to work it's way there, and once it did, all it took was a flash of red on a 1m candle to get us into the short targeting at least a 65 pip or so reward for maybe a 15'ish pip risk, 4-1 reward vs risk, very nice. We quickly found ourselves in profit around 30 pips which offered a perfect opportunity to protect break even, and let the trade continue. As the video shows, in due time we did indeed find ourselves showing hesitation at the hourly 200 ema, and not far off from the weekly central pivot point. Swing trading the forex currency pair GBPJPY

This swing trade is a perfect example of following your trade plan and not being drawn in to knee jerk trading. With an initial target of 425 pips with the possibility of 587 pips, this trade would have been a nice winner. Instead, I end up +5 pips.

FOREX VIDEO REVIEW: London Session July 24th, 2009

Today we open London in a rather choppy scenario short term, but once the GDP was released for Britain, the pound pairs proceeded to lose value quickly. After the initial strong news move we bounced solidly off recent lows and plotted a short trade plan off an overlapping resistance/Fibonacci zone that we simply had to wait for to occur. So in this video I focus on how we built our short trade plan on the GBP/USD, and used the EUR/GBP price movement to give us confidence in the entry itself. While it looks easy after the fact, the reality was this trade required much patience and discipline to WAIT for the setup to present itself. Perfect daily lesson of patience and discipline, as the end result was a relatively clean 80 pip trade that rewarded us for awaiting for price to fall into our trap.
