| Чубчик (Lock of hair) is a chanson dating from the beginning of the 20th century, and is about a political prisoner who sings about his/her (it is not precised whether it is a male or a female that tells the story) lock of hair. The author says that he/she cannot forget the lock of hair that was waving under a winter hat. For the author, the lock of hair symbolises freedom and memories (while entering the prison, his/her hair was shaved). The author explains how when winter passes and summer comes everyone is enjoying the blossoming of the flowers in the gardens, but unfortunately the author cannot enjoy it, because he/she will be chained and sent to prison -- "Пройдет зима, настанет лето, в саду цветочки пышно расцветут. У меня, у бедного мальчонки, ручки да ножки цепями закуют." At the end the author says "Но я Сибирь, Сибирь я не боюся, Сибирь - ведь тоже русская земля.
