Some forms you will see in this lesson include: льда, льдом, льду, and, of course, лёд. Ice can be useful for cooling things down, but it can also be a hassle when it clogs waterways or makes driving on roads especially dangerous. But in any case, it is time to get things started with sample sentence number one: У нас снова закончился лёд. (We ran out of ice again.) Here we see a form of закончиться and закончиться means to finish or to end. Sample sentence two goes like this: Сосульки cвисали с крыши. (Icicles hung from the edge of the roof.) Here we see a form of сосулька and the meaning of сосулька is icicle. The third sample sentence is as follows: Мы прогуливались вдоль ледника. (We hiked by the glacier.) Here we see the Russian word for glacier which is ледник. BTW, this sentence could be rephrased slightly to become: Мы прогуливались по леднику.
