| Release: Q4 2010 Developer: Namco Bandai Games Distribution: Namco Bandai Games Platforms: PS3 and XBOX360 Description: Splatterhouse is almost a pioneer of survival horror games. In 1988, when beat 'em up and horror games weren't common, Splatterhouse became a much copied formula. This game showed so much blood and extreme violence (maybe a little less extreme due to low quality of the games at that time). It's a game clearly based on classic "trash" horror, very popular in 70' and 80's. Splatterhouse tells the story of a student, Rick Taylor, who tries saving his girlfriend (Jennifer). The girl disappeared inside of a mysterious mansion. Then Rick is obligated to combat many evil monsters that probably would have killed him, if an odd mask wouldn't have appeared for helping him. The mask gave to desperate hero several mystical powers, transforming him in a "Juggernaut". The original plot has been created by comics writer Gordon Rennie. Namco Bandai decided to bring to the twenty-first century the old story, adding a new dynamic, renovated graphics and a better gameplay. Instead of using a baseball bat, now the "new Rick" may choose one of many weapons. Moreover, the vitality level of character is clearly showed through severed limbs and bones on display. Splatterhouse should delight fans of the "trash" horror and people who like extreme violence and gush of blood. Official Game Site: www.splatterhousegame.com |
