| Absolute Tango When German sailors took the recently invented Bandoneon to Argentina at the end of the 19th Century, little did they (or Mr. Band himself) know that the instrument would become the beloved national instrument of their adopted homeland. New York about a generation later: Piazzollas homesick father sees a bandoneon in a pawn shop window and gives a gift that will in the hands of his prodigious son lead to Nuevo Tango. The Tango metamorphosis continues when Absolute Ensemble collaborates with Piazzollas former protégé, Dutch Bandoneonist Carel Kraayenhof and Sexteto Canyengue. Composers: Tom Trapp, Carel Kraayenhof, Charles Coleman, Matt Herskowitz, Gene Pritsker, Mike Block, Daniel Schnyder. |
