Arthur, IL Massive 16" Shell Firework Accident 2009

The biggest firework at the Arthur, IL Fireworks Festival failed to go off until it was a few hundred feet away from spectators on the ground. Several people recieved burns from flying sparks.

16 inch Aerial Firework Shells

www.youtube.com is the link to the higher res 480p copy of this video, check it out! These are 14 and 16 inch shells. The star patterns that resulted easily filled the field of view of my camera. The music is recognized from the movie "2001: A Space Odyssey" but the track is actually an old classical piece called "Also sprach Zarathustra" and was composed by Richard Strauss in 1896. It was used perfectly with this firework sequence!

16 inch shell setting up

A real blast from the past - April 2000 - and one of my first times behind the scenes at big pro fireworks display. This one was by HFM Pyrotechnics for Ellesmere College and featured the now legendary (and RIP) 16" inch shell - yes SIXTEEN INCHES. Here the shell is being loaded - amusingly painted BOMB - after the mandatory team photos. And it's a good job they posed for these shots - this size shell is now all but outlawed in the UK. Fireworks Failure - 16 inch mortar shell explosion

A huge 16 inch shell goes kaput in the mortar tube creating one huge mine (or flowerpot). The downward force shoved the tube about 2ft further into the ground, breaking its wooden supports. More info: www.firework-review.org.uk

PYROSAMM FIREWORKS 12 inch Display Shells

Here you can watch a bunch of 10 and 12 inch shells we fired just off the main jinsha road in liuyang. The coolest part is that where we were located was in the middle of a valley so the sound made when the lift charge ignites and then the sound when the shell bursts is absolutely monsterous and echoes for ever!
