| Train 1: At Willow Creek, just east of where NS's Chicago Line crosses the ex-B&O CSX line, an NS local manifest (which is rather overpowered, I'd say!) has a restricting indication as it crawls across Crisman Road. Power is three Dash-9s: #9525, 9957 and 9800. Train 2: A rushed drive over to the twin towns of Porter and Chesterton was made, first to catch this rarity, then to see the parade of trains coming through this afternoon: Soo Line SD60 #6034 and two blue CEFX SD40-2s run a CP train through to Canada via NS's Chicago Line Train 3: NS SD70M-2 #2743 leads a westbound manifest solo past the CP train. Train 4: A Canadian National run-through from their line through Michigan to Sarnia, ON, heads west past the old Chesterton depot, with "North American cab" SD60F #5551 leading a Dash-9 on this manifest in beautiful afternoon sun. Train 5: Over on the Amtrak line (which splits from the Chicago Line a few blocks to the west), Amtrak P42DC #27 leads 5 Horizon coaches, one Amfleet coach, and ex-F40PH NPCU "cabbage" car #90215 north-west on train #352, the Wolverine, towards Detroit.... which is 3 hours late out of Chicago! Train 6: CP Dash-9 #9755 and AC4400CW #8878 lead an intermodal westbound toward Chicago. Train 7: BNSF ES44DC #6055 and ex-BN "Executive" SD70M #9424 lead an empty coal drag west, returning from the Detroit area on the CSX line through Porter. Train 8: As the tail end of the train comes off the curve to parallel the NS line, more BNSF power heads west on ... |
