Fourth Spatial Dimension 101

Mathematical concept of the fourth spatial dimension (this is not about time as the fourth dimension, aka spacetime). Notes: #1: (1:10) Obviously your room would only exist in a single 3d space. Technically, the room described here is actually 4-dimensional. #2: (2:30) This is a 2d object (ie, unlike a piece of paper), which means there is no no "front" or "back" - so you can see all the points at once. #3: (4:31) For this analogy, we are comparing the act of drawing on an ordinary canvas, on both the 3d and 4d worlds. Carving, sculpting and creating 3d models on the computer don't change the fact that humans can not "draw" a real 3d shape by hand on a "flat" surface. #4: (5:49) The 3d objects and the light source are on different 3d spaces. 3D to 4D shift

In physics and mathematics, the dimension of a space is roughly defined as the minimum number of coordinates needed to specify every point within it. For example: a point on the unit circle in the plane can be specified by two Cartesian coordinates but one can make do with a single coordinate (the polar coordinate angle), so the circle is 1-dimensional even though it exists in the 2-dimensional plane. This intrinsic notion of dimension is one of the chief ways in which the mathematical notion of dimension differs from its common usages. There is also an inductive description of dimension: consider a discrete set of points (such as a finite collection of points) to be 0-dimensional. By dragging a 0-dimensional object in some direction, one obtains a 1-dimensional object. By dragging a 1-dimensional object in a new direction, one obtains a 2-dimensional object. In general one obtains an n+1-dimensional object by dragging an n dimensional object in a new direction. Returning to the circle example: a circle can be thought of as being drawn as the end-point on the minute hand of a clock, thus it is 1-dimensional. To construct the plane one needs two steps: drag a point to construct the real numbers, then drag the real numbers to produce the plane. Consider the above inductive construction from a practical point of view -- ie: with concrete objects that one can play with in one's hands. Start with a point, drag it to get a line. deadmau5 lights up London with amazing 4D projection - NOKIA Lumia Live

On Monday 28th November Nokia Lumia 800 with Windows phone nokia.ly brought deadmau5 and the world's most advanced 4D technology together and created an amazing free light show at Millbank Tower, London. Millbank was plunged into darkness with the iconic tower acting as the canvas for a never-before-seen spectacular. Each of the 120 metre high building's 800 windows were covered with vinyl as 16 powerful projectors, stationed 300 metres away on the other side of the river, beamed 3D images onto the structure. Huge butterflies flew across the London skyline and the tower was twisted, pulsated and even fell down. Billed as the "future of live events" the spectacular show was accompanied by music from super producer deadmau5, who created exclusive remixes for the performance -- adding the 4th dimension.
