| This is the first of my "new look" videos. Now I have got a moviemaker (cyberlink) which works with my camcorder format, will make sure I edit clips and make them an improvement to before. I can also have a load of clips in the same video without having to convert which is a bonus! Anyway, this video shows all my clips I got of the amazing Caley 828 newly restored on the Straphspey Railway also known as the Caledonian Macintosh. I have never seen anything quite like this before! Always raring to go, she was never afraid to get a memorising performance. The amount of steam, and in some clips, whistles was amazing! When you see the turbostar, don't worry this isn't a mistake... ! Anyway, Locations seen are Broomhill (also known as Glenbogle), Boat of Garten, Aviemore and somewhere along the road near Boat of Garten. I know also have a Caledonian 4-4-2 for my model railway which is remarkably similar to this. "None of McIntosh's express passenger locomotives for the Caledonian survives today. Our locomotive, Caledonian No.828, is the sole surviving member of the 812 Class which was designed and built by McIntosh for express goods trains, excursion traffic and the Clyde Coast fast boat trains connecting with the Company's steamers. No.828 was built in 1899 and delivered from St Rollox Works during August of that year. No.828 is the only locomotive of pure McIntosh design remaining in Britain and is therefore quite unique.
