| Urban Manners. 15 Contemporary Artists from India is a project by ART for The World and Hangar Bicocca. The exhibition - curated by Adelina von Fürstenberg - opened at the Hangar Bicocca in Milan in October 2007 featuring the works by 15 emblematic Indian artists: SHEBA CHHACHHI, ATUL DODIYA, ANITA DUBE, PROBIR GUPTA, SUBODH GUPTA, RANBIR KALEKA, JITISH KALLAT, REENA SAINI KALLAT, BHARTI KHER, NALINI MALANI, RAQS MEDIA COLLECTIVE, RAGHUBIR SINGH, VIVAN SUNDARAM, HEMA UPADHYAY and AVINASH VEERARAGHAVAN. Urban Manners proposes a path that reveals all the striking contradictions of contemporary India. The artists' works (sculptures, photos, video, installations) are inspired by the issues that distinguish Indian society, such as the immigration, the environmental protection, the loss of traditional values, the poverty and the wealth in a globalized world. The exhibition toured to SESC Paulista in Sao Paulo, Brazil in January 2010. Video by Anton.Mach |
