| On the 11th September Cambridgeshire Army Cadet Force opened its doors to show the exciting opportunities it offers you young people and adults. There were many different activities on offer including Air Rifle, Clay Pigeon and 22. Rifle shooting, Archery (courtesy of Ely Archery Club), Canoeing, Signals and Wall Climbing (courtesy of Lincolnshire ACF). There was the chance to find out about joining the organisation as well information on the Duke of Edinburgh's Award and the National Qualifications on offer through CVQO. During the day there was Displays from the First Aid Team and Corps of Drums. At the end of the There was a sponsored shave to raise money for the ABF The Soldiers' Charity which is the Cambs ACF chosen charity of the year. The Commandant, Colonel Roget Herriot, was exceptionally brave by letting two cadets, Drum Major Sam Davies and L/Cpl Max Jackson shave off his moustache that had been firmly attached since the age of 18. S/Sgt Helen Matthews had her head shaved by Debbie Albon from Sir-Vannahs Barbers in Biggleswade. Debbie showed her skills as shaved Helen's head whilst blindfolded. After a wet and rainy start the weather brightened into a glorious day, just the weather for an ice cream! |
