| Here I'm using another custom Strat that I put together. It has a special Strat pickguard that is cut for a Tele pickup set plus a Strat middle pickup. I'm using a custom set of pickups that were handwound by Abigail Ybarra for the Masterbuilders at Fender. I have a few sets of Abby's handwound pickups and they are all amazing. They have clarity and presence that are far above other similar pickups. Of course, I was attempting to get some classic Tele tones from a Strat with a tremolo bridge. Not an easy task since the Tele bridge plays significantly into that signature Tele tone we all love. But I came much closer to it that I ever expected to, so I am very happy with how well this "Strat" turned out. The neck and bridge pickups are handwound Nocasters, and the middle pickup is a handwound Fat 50s. The body is lightweight swamp ash with a maple top, and the neck is another Warmoth scalloped neck of flame maple with a Brazilian rosewood fingerboard. I'm absolutely in love with Abby's pickups and am officially a collector of all pickups signed with her name ("Abby") whether they are Tele or Strat pickups. I'm using two amps here in this tune. My clean tones come from my Warbler Juke 1210 and my overdrive tones come from my modified 1982 Fender Concert. Both amps a loaded with Weber speakers. The Juke has 3 speakers... a 12A150-O, a 10A125, and a 10A150. The Fender Concert has an Alnico California 12, and my Fender SFX Satellite is loaded with a ceramic California with the ... |
