AVIATOR (2004) - The crash of the XF-11

On July 7th, 1946 Howard Hughes crashed with his XF-11 airplane in the Beverly Hills neighborhood near the Los Angeles Country Club golf course. Martin Scorsese recreated this horrible incident quite impressively in his 2004 biopic about the famous aviator Hughes with Leonardo DiCaprio in the title role. The music which underscores this sequence is the "Toccata and Fugue in D-Minor, BWV 565" an organ piece by Johann Sebastian Bach in a transcribition by Leopold Stokowski. The piece itself is conducted by Eugene Ormandy and performed by The Philadelphia Symphony Orchestra,
