Railfanning the BNSF Panhandle Subdivison, 1-3-12

Train 1: Eastbound Unidentified Coal Train @ 7:05AM Train 2: BNSF 4889 East, Manifest @ 7:40AM Train 3: BNSF 7821 West, Intermodal @ 8:05AM Train 4: BNSF 7357 East, Intermodal @ 8:15AM Train 5: BNSF 5407 East, Ethanol @8:45AM I ended up driving over 400 miles and visiting many cities today, but didn't manage to see many trains along the route, as luck usually has it. BNSF Railway

I got the night crew down at the freezer building finally; they were unloading a few new cars for them to get loaded up later the next day. The rock train was heading up north because they had some track damage because there was about six inches of rain. Other videos are the local yard crews during switching operations.

Fort Collins Street Running - BNSF 9201 Leads Coal Down Mason St.!

Out east, Street running is pretty common. In the west however, they're very few and far between. And therefor, when I returned from Cheyenne, I insisted I go railfan Mason St. in Fort Collins, Colorado. In addition to having the best college in the state (CSU) it's also home to probably the best street running anywhere in the west. Today's train was a coal drag lead by BNSF SD70ACe 9201. The amount of K5LLA and the length of the train through the city sure made that area stop and stare. This was the First time I've ever seen a train move down the street like this, and I'm glad I caught it, because they're renovating this area, possibly sectioning off this track by this summer. Enjoy the street running!

BNSF Detour Trains 6-23-11

Due to an outage at Minot, ND on BNSF's Northern Transcon, all traffic has been rerouted through Laurel. The intermodals and container trains are being routed over Montana Rail Link and the manifest and grain traffic is being routed through Great Falls. This is an exciting time around here as traffic through Laurel has more than doubled overnight! Last night, I ventured out to Columbus, MT just in time to catch five trains in 40 minutes before the weather forced me in for the evening.
