The dance was organised to mark the recent launch of the world's first airport prepaid MasterCard card, which was unveiled by Dubai Airports, Dubai Duty Free and MasterCard Worldwide, aimed primarily at airport clientele. DXB Connect offers arriving, departing and transiting passengers exclusive discounts at Dubai Duty Free retail outlets, as well as at various hotels, spas, F&B outlets and family entertainment venues across Dubai. It also offers global reach as it is accepted everywhere the MasterCard acceptance mark is displayed. As part of the package, the card also comes with a ready to use Etisalat mobile SIM preloaded with AED 25 credit allowing travellers the convenience of having a local phone number on arrival. "Our goal is to continually find innovative ways to create a uniquely positive and memorable service experience for our passengers," said Paul Griffiths, CEO of Dubai Airports. "Much like the airport itself, the DXB Connect card ticks all the boxes by offering our customers global reach, greater convenience and tremendous value."

Video footage of a "flash mob" in Dubai International Airport used to promote the new DXB Connect Debit Card by MasterCard has gone viral. The video - produced to promote the first ever airport prepaid card designed primarily for airport passengers - has become a successful social media campaign, clocking up more than 800000 hits on YouTube in only ten days. With only four rehearsals the event was organised by Dubai Duty Free and included 55 dancers including children and took place in one of the most popular shopping areas at the airport. And in other news, a blonde shopper has become an internet sensation after she was caught on camera battling the wrong way up an escalator. The well-dressed woman seems unaware of her mistake, casually marching up the steps as bemused passers-by glide past her in the opposite direction. As her endless trudging seems to be getting her nowhere, she starts fighting to climb the moving stairs while onlookers fail to stifle their giggles. After a gruelling 42-second workout, the woman finally makes it to the top and totters off to hit the shops as though nothing has happened. The amateur footage, dubbed Blonde on an escalator, was uploaded to YouTube and has been viewed nearly 1.4million times in a week. tomorrow, the John Lewis Christmas ad dubbed the best ever.
