Bakiyev leaves, but much unresolved in Kyrgyzstan

Although Kyrgyz President Kurmanbek Bakiyev has fled the country, too much about the situation in Bishkek remains unknown to declare a victory for the opposition, says analyst Erica Marat of the Central Asia-Caucasus Institute. She says that Bikayev was concerned only about strengthening his own regime and his control over the economy. He underestimated the power of the crowds, which showed how out of touch he was with the Kyrgyz people. Egor Piskunov also reports live from Bishkek.
