Always My Son

familyproject.sfsu.edu Always My Son is one of a series of short documentary films that are being produced by the Family Acceptance Project to help ethnically and religiously diverse families decrease their LGBT children's risk for suicide, substance abuse, depression, HIV, homelessness and placement in foster care or juvenile justice settings -- by increasing family support. The video series we are developing is part of a range of research-based intervention resources -- including a new evidence-based family approach to help diverse families support their LGBT children. These resources are based on groundbreaking research conducted by Dr. Caitlin Ryan and her team at San Francisco State University. Our new research shows that family accepting and rejecting behaviors have a compelling impact on their LGBT children's health and mental health. Wahls has two mothers, and came to oppose House Joint Resolution 6 which would end civil unions in Iowa. Marys Place Family Flash Mob Dance at Monmouth Park Racetrack

We rehearsed for months for a flash mob dance to be performed at the Monmouth Park Race Track Breeders' Cup Day. Only the volunteers, track, and select press know of this. A flash mob dance is a large group of people who assemble suddenly in a public place, perform a dance for a brief time, and then disperse. When a woman gets the diagnosis of cancer, Mary's Place by the Sea provides a venue for the whole family through an uplifting and positive atmosphere in a time of great need. They support the woman through treatment with reiki, therapy, massage, and guided meditation, nutritional counseling and so much more. All services are given by volunteers and are free of charge. In addition, Mary's Place provides support for the children and spouse during this difficult time in their family's life through classes and counseling. Billions are raised every year for national charities but what about the grass roots non-profits in your back yard? With many people cutting back on their finances, here is a way anyone can help while also having a great time, and at the very least some laughs!
