| On 3-20 and 3-21 2009 the Southern Appalachia Railway Museum in Oak Ridge, TN operated L&N 1315, an ALCO C-420 on a photo freight. Proceeds help the museum with expenses and restorations. A trip to the musuem is a worthwhile venture, even for the non-railfan, as an excursion with the musuem grants access, otherwise unobtainable, to the K-25 facility. This is where uranium was processed for the atomic bombs of WWII. It's a great ride, just don't bring any contraband, heavily armed guards will check your id and search your bags prior to departure. |
