| yaharaway.com Koni Peninsula Magadan is frequently called the capital of Kolyma area. But it should be mentioned that Kolyma flows only in the upper part of Magadan reqion. The rest is located on the territory of Yakutia. And if one examines Magadan region, he will find out, that it consists not only of Kolyma area (and generally not only from mountains and taiga, rivers and lakes), but also another areas, for example, Sea of Okhotsk with its coast. The seashore has very odd shapes, there are lots of gulfs and peninsulas. One of them is Koni peninsula, which is together with Piagina peninsula creates a significant projection of land, running into the waters of Sea of Okhotsk. There, on Koni peninsula, I was lucky to spend three months of 2008 - July, August and September. It was another photo expedition by request of the Publishing house. The whole western part of the peninsula relates to the territory of Magadansky Preserve, so we had to come to an agreement with the administration about the possibility of holding such an expedition. The agreement was reached successfully and we received assistance not only from the administration, but also from the employees of the Preserve. This expedition was distinctive from the previous ones: I didn't have to overcome long distances on my own, there was a possibility to rest in permanent camps and then to take short working routes from the place of stationing.
