Cheap variable ND filter from Polaroid. Quick test - DSLR FILM NOOB

www.dslrfilmnoob.com Variable ND filters can be very handy when shooting out doors or in bright light, but the price can be kind of high for some of the name brand Variable ND filters out there. In this test I'm using a very low price Polaroid 72mm Variable ND filter. Polaroids ND filters generally run about $30 to $50 on amazon depending on the filter size and can easily be half or a third the cost of some of the higher end Variable ND filters out there. You can pick up the one I'm using in this video here: www.amazon.com I'll be sitting down and comparing this Variable ND filter with Light crafts offering in a future video. My filming was ruined by the Bay Area fog drifting in. Equipment used in this video: Canon t2i Canon 35mm f1.4 lens Polaroid Variable ND filter Sony CLM v55 monitor sennheiser g2 wireless mic

Genus ND Filter - lightenupandshoot

lightenupandshoot.com for the full post. The newest addition to the Backpacker Studio, a neutral density "ND" filter. ND filters reduce the amount of light entering the camera's sensor (like putting on a pair of sunglasses for your camera). Why would you want to do this? Imagine if you could shoot with an aperture of 1.8 in full sun or have a long shutter speed of 30 seconds in the middle of the day. The Genus ND affects the exposure from 2 -8 stops of light without changing color.

DIY Variable ND Filter Tutorial

Subscribe! Tools you will need to make your Varbiable ND filter -2x circular polarizer I used Zeikos filters, you can use anything. The better the filter the better the results. -Small flathead screwdriver READ THIS! I forgot to tell you HOW to use it. You spin the front filter while keeping the other one in the same position. If you want this to stay permanent you can glue the spinning thread of the bottom filter in place. Notes: The quality of the filter greatly effects the outcome of the effect. My version will produce a blue tint, and can also produce a mixed tint. You just have to test your setup and see what works, and be sure to mark the points on your filter. Obviously if you're willing to buy two B&W filters, I would suggest just buying a real variable ND.
