| Thanks to Art Council of Newcastle, School of Fine Art University of Newcastle, Simsmetal Industry Corporation and Autority of Griffith Park Stockon in Newcastle, Rosaria Iazzetta realize the Project Trought the Pig Bottom. I have chosen to study the relationship between this animal and the material iron. In the industrialized countries the iron that cant be more used because very bad is called Iron Pig. Also, in the life of this animal there is always the union with iron. The pig born in an iron cage, afterwards will be slaughtered with weapon made of iron, and will then be cooked in an iron pot. The sculpture is a pig made of aluminium; six times the size of real pig.To Built it I spent three months and used 800 of bolts to stitch 190 kilograms of aluminium plates. The ultimate size of the work, is 6meters longer, about 3 meters large and about 2 meter high. I have chosen iron because only this material can express such a monumental idea and will better demonstrate the body movement of this animal. The process for creating the sculpture was: Firstly the construction of the frame. Welding creates this structure.Secondly the covering, and the structure is cover made of different parts of aluminium that is stitched togheter. This system gave a very interesting impression of lightness of density to the sculpture. The sculpture is sealed except that it is possible to see inside trough the rear end of the pig. A visual document can then be observed by looking into the ... |
