Transcript: Has this ever happened to you - you come home from work and you're ready to prepare a beautiful salad for dinner and you go in your fridge and your lettuce looks like this? Today I'm going to show you how to store your lettuce properly so that it stays fresh longer and it's ready to go every time. Okay, I'm going to show you my 4 step process on how to store your lettuce properly. First we're going to rinse. Second we're going to soak. Third we're going to dry. Fourth we're going to layer. Let's get started! First, you're going to take the head of lettuce and rinse all the excess dirt out. You're going to want to pull the core out, and then separate the leaves. The next step is to soak. You're going to either fill up your sink or a large bowl and submerge your lettuce leaves under the water. You're going to want to leave these there for about 30 minutes and they'll crisp up real nice. Third, you're going to remove the lettuce from the water and either lay it out on a paper towel or a nice linen kitchen towel and you're going to want to blot all the excess water off.
