Sony HDR-XR550 camcorder - Preview

Tech Digest get to have a hands-on look at Sony's latest full HD camcorder, the HDR-XR550. With a 250GB hard drive, Exmor R CMOS sensor and a BIONZ processor, it's looking pretty darn good. Sony's Mike Tudor talks us through it.

All of this video was filmed with the Sony HDR XR550 which will be a back up camera and also the one to take under water for HD filming. The quality of the image is excellent, great macro, smooth slow record for 5 seconds, 240GB hard drive for tremendous capacity, 12mp stills and 8.3mp stills while filming. Sony HDR XR550 HD in Sony Sport Pack underwater on the reef

We get a lot of questions about the video equipment we use, so here goes. We use Sony products exclusively. Consumer and pro-consumer cameras such as the Sony HDR XR550, we have 2 of these cameras for underwater videos with Sony Sport Pack underwater housing, good for a depth of 16 feet. Cindy uses the Sony HDR XR550 and likes the ease of controls, light weight and great picture quality. I use the Sony HDR AX2000 which is a lot larger pro consumer camcorder. I love both cameras and find the quality of the underwater videos taken by the HDR XR550 especially spectacular. We have 2 Sony's HDR-TD10E 'Double Full HD' 3D consumer camcorder coming in early April. I love 3D and can't wait to be filming in this format. music by Enrique Del Carmen 01 - EL TUNKUL
