Zofia Stryjeńska [1891-1976] - a Polish art deco painter, illustrator, graphic and stage designer. One of the most famous artists of pre-war Poland. Main themes in her art were: Slavic mythology, Polish folk and history. In post-war communist times - nearly totally forgotten. Nowadays, on the wave of nostalgia, her legacy is again drawing great interest. On May 15th, 2009 there was opened a big exhibition of Stryjeńska's works at the National Museum, Warsaw, Poland, embracing also never presented earlier paintings from private and the artist's family collections.
