The Seekers - I'll never find another you (1968)

From The Seekers farewell concert July 7 1968 at the BBC in London. The last time they sang this song as a group in the sixties. I hope these few videos give you good memories and can help to keep their songs and music alive. We can not let them be forgotten. I'll never find another you is composed by Tom Springfield and was recorded at Abbey Road studioes in London november 4 1964. "I'll never find another you" was to become their first number one hit in the UK 1965. And by the way,Judith overslept and got late to the studio that day :) I'll Never Find Another You There's a new world somewhere they call the promised land, And I'll be there someday if you will hold my hand. I still need you there beside me, no matter what I do, For I know I'll never find another you. There is always someone for each of us they say, And you'll be my someone forever and a day. I could search the whole world over until my life is through, But I know I'll never find another you. It's a long, long journey, so stay by my side. When I walk through the storm, you'll be my guide, be my guide. If they gave me a fortune, my pleasure would be small; I could lose it all tomorrow and never mind at all. But if I should lose your love dear, I don't know what I'd do, For I know I'll never find another you. (Instrumental bridge with wordless vocals) But if I should lose your love dear, I don't know what I'd do, For I know I'll never find another you. Another you, Another you. Tom Springfield 1964? Richard's ...

The Seekers - The Carnival Is Over.(1968)

From their farewell concert at the BBC in London July 7 1968."The carnival is over"Not until 1993 did they get together again with Judith as a lead singer. They then more or less performed concerts together until 2004.But the years are moving on for all of us and they have retired for good now as a group after having their last tour summer of 2004.Their last ever concert was in Hong Kong October 8th 2004.Keith Potger, Judith Durham and Athol Guy still perform in Australia as solo artists. But as they have said themselves:"Never say never"they are to tour in May 2011 with Andre Rieu in Australia. The lyrics for "The Carnival is over" was written by Tom Springfield and the melody is based on a old Russian folk song. Judith had to put up a real fight to get this song recorded as the boys rather would record another song called "Hummingbird" instead. But she got her will and it was recorded first time in 1965.At it's peak this single record was selling 90000 copies a day in the UK.

The Seekers - Georgy Girl-1968

From The Seekers farewell concert july 7 1968 at the BBC in London. Georgy girl, one of their most loved songs and the very last one they ever sang together in the sixties. Some have asked special for this so here it is. "Georgy Girl"is composed by Jim Dale and Tom Springfield. This was the last song they sang at the farewell concert and after the lights and tv camera's were switched off Judith cried of relief in her dressing room. She was now free and could go ahead singing and performing the music she wanted to perform. But for most people myself included we lost Judith for 25 years and had no idea what she was doing.Only in recent years have i been able to obtain her solo albums thanks to the Internet. Their just lovely and i recommend them to all.

The Seekers Judith Durham Farewell 1968 (Entire Show)

peteinoz Quote: A couple of things I want to say about this show. It will categorically NOT be released on DVD. The VHS release only came about through the temerity of one man, Graham Simpson, who invested a huge amount of unpaid time and agony on clearances. This meant contacting literally everyone heard or seen in this special. As these included a conductor and a rather large orchestra, as well as The Seekers themselves, this was a major undertaking particularly as some of the participants were deceased (The Seekers themselves are all living), so in those cases releases from surviving relatives were required. Simpson has stated he has absolutely no desire to go through the same process again for a DVD release, so the VHS is all we will get. Unless, that is, the BBC decides to rescreen it, which they easily could if they chose. As this special was taped in colour but only exists as a monochrome kine recording, the BBC could also - if they chose - utilise that new colour digitisation process they've developed which enables black and white telerecordings of colour programmes to be turned back into colour by detecting the formation of the chroma dots (a la the Dad's Army episode 'Room At The Bottom'). I doubt they'll see it as desirable though, even though The Seekers still have an adoring following in the UK and such a transformation would garner the BBC some very good press. .....Unquote. The Seekers were an Australian group that formed in Melbourne, Australia in 1963 ...
