You Sound Funny When You Smile Le Flash Art Event 2009

Live interactive art video installation at the experimental art festival Le Flash in Atlanta, GA. Two Hmong actors engage with the audience via live video feed to them inside the building. The audience engages the heads by speaking into the provided microphones. The heads are projected 14 feet high and tower over the people outside. The heads are meant to intimidate the audience and reverse the roles of majority and minority and give the audience the feeling of being an immigrant in a foreign country. A collaborative project by Stefani Byrd and Wes Eastin made possible by a grant from the Atlanta Celebrates Photography Festival. Featuring Faith and Jeff Her.

Traces of a Presence: The Metronome

The video installation is the video and a metronome ticking out time in the floor of the gallery. It is a meditation about time and its effects on the body. It is also an effort to remind audience members of the toll of time. It has a run time of around 10 minutes.

Silent Echoes (The Meeting)

Preview of a one night site specific video installation for the Le Flash Contemporary and new media art event in the Castleberry Hill Art District of Atlanta, GA on October 24th, 2008 from 7 - 12 pm. The videos will be installed in the windows of two buildings across the street from one another. This will give the illusion that the two characters have a chance meeting when they notice one another from inside the windows of their respective buildings.

Like It Was Carved in Stone (Barbara's Grave)

The video shows my hand tracing the infinity symbol carved on my grandmother's grave. She was a respected psychic and numerologist. Her life has had a big impact on my life and my work as an artist, though I have no memory of her. The video is an illusion to the idea of physically connecting with someone who is passed and a meditation about the nature of the human soul. When the video is exhibited, it plays on a infinite loop with no beginning and no end like the symbol it depicts.

How Insensitive (solo guitar) Tom Cossentino

Tom Cossentino performs antonio carlos jobim's "How Insensitive". I have been experimenting with using the classical tremolo technique in the context of a solo jazz, chord melody improvisation.
