Shocking Video: Syrian opposition violence

Torture, booby-trapped cars, machine-guns shooting in the air -- RT has come into the possession of a video that deals with episodes of the day-to-day life of members of the Syrian opposition. It shows members of the opposition wielding various weaponry -- from sickles to pump-action shotguns -- and using it, as well as some results of their actions. Parts of it contain too much violence to be reproduced for an unprepared audience, the rest is available to demonstrate the scale of the humanitarian catastrophe Syria is dealing with. Meanwhile, Russia has declared its readiness to continue working on a new resolution on Syria and expects two delegations of the Syrian opposition to visit Moscow for negotiations in October. While a massive group of Western countries last week proposed two resolutions, both of which included sanctions against current President Bashar al-Assad's regime if violence against the opposition continues, Russia and China opposed any kind of sanctions. Russia has condemned the Western resolutions as being designed to force a regime change in Syria, which, according to numerous statements made by Russia's Foreign Ministry, will only encourage violence. Middle East commentator discusses Syria violence

The Syrian government has been blaming al-Qaeda for Monday's attacks in Idlib and Damascus. Rami Khoury, director of Issam Fares Institute for Public Policy and International Affairs in Beirut, tells Al Jazeera: "There are probably some al-Qaeda inspired terrorists groups who are operating in Syria. "Some of them came from Iraq and Afghanistan. They have been operating for many years in Syria but the Syrian government had them under control. It is possible that some of them have resurfaced again."

Syria violence continues amid armed clashes

In Syria, video has emerged which seems to suggest that opposition groups are arming themselves in the fight against government forces. The footage, reportedly shot in Homs on Sunday, shows members of the military coming under fire from some apparently armed oppostion fighters. This escalation in the fight for political change in Syria comes as reports of deadly clashes continued across the country. And all of this is pushing Syrians to pressure the Arab League to act on a peace plan brokered last week. Al Jazeera's Nazanine Sadri reports.

Another Tripoli: Syria strife echoes in neighborhood violence

It's an Arab city on the Mediterranean with a penchant for everything green. Lebanese Tripoli looks a lot alike its Libyan namesake and, increasingly, it's being drawn into the revolutionary violence. It's home to sizable Alawite and Sunni communities and, with the Syrian border just a half-hour drive away, tensions are already boiling over. Oksana Boyko explains.
