Payload was programmed by Zap and released for the MSX in 1985 by Sony. The object of the game is to deliver goods or commodities to various cities in Japan within a certain deadline. This can be done by driving through the cities or by using the highway in some of them. Delivering goods is not an easy task since you not only have to pay attention to the traffic around you but also to the fuel indicator and your fatigue. An empty fuel tank ends the game and when your fatigue becomes too high steering becomes more difficult. Watch out for the police as well because they might fine you for speeding etc. Luckily there are also various bars where you can drink and rest and Shops (called Parts) where you can buy devices to enhance your truck. When Payload was released it prompted many to make maps of the game. I was one of the more successful games of Zap who previously released Funky Mouse and Pine Applin and would later release Cosmo Explorer and Midnight Brothers. Payload is a fun game to play and I hope that one day a remake will be made. (c) Zap/Sony 1985
