Indian Railways sight and sound spectacular

This video is a compilation of short pieces taken (with permission ) from the channels of four Indian Railway videographers. I find the Indian Railways fascinating to watch and enjoy the videos coming out of the country. It was that which prompted me to put this piece together for others to enjoy and perhaps share the amazing scenes that one sees there. There's not too many places in the railway world that you can still hear the steady chug of an ALCO , a modern EMD or the whine of a big electric all in the same place. India has got the lot. The work is compiled in no particular order of merit or favourites but simply as it was taken down from Youtube. It has been "bordered" because it was a mix of standard definition at 480p and high definition at 720p. It was edited to fit together neatly and to retain as much quality as possible for rendering at HD 720p. Some small amounts of tweaking were done to enhance contrast and exposure but it is basically as shot. Considerable tweaking was done to provide stereo sound effects. Australian Railways; EMD's down under; Three 567's, a full load and a 2% grade

All new video is shot at HD 1080 and if you enjoy this check out my channel for the one that stalls. Reminiscent of the old days when 567's could be heard for 10' before and after they were seen these three are hard at work on Warrenheip Bank with 9162 grain train from Charlton to Melbourne. A Quaint Little Railway (1930)

This short, silent film captures one of Britain's minor little railways: the Leek and Manifold Light Railway on the Staffordshire Moorlands. The railway opened in 1907, linking the villages of Waterhouses and Hulme End, and was built mainly for agricultural traffic, with a passenger service being a secondary consideration. Its route went through beautiful countryside in Staffordshire, and it is unfortunate that the intertitles state it as being shot in Derbyshire! In 1934 the entire line was closed by the North Staffordshire Railway. There is little in the way of recorded film material of this quaint little train, so this gem gives an invaluable insight into the railway. Wigan 2011 Model Railway Exhibition

This was the last time the event will be held during the month of December, with next years' event scheduled for 16th and 17th of June to favour better travelling conditions. The event saw over 30 layouts in attendance, from N gauge, TT gauge and HO gauge to 009, EM and S gauge and more. The award, as voted for by other exhibitors, for best layout went to Crumley & Little Wickhill. John Emerson, Editor of British Railway Modelling magazine presented the award to the Hull Miniature Railway Society - the group behind the layout.

Railways in Britain 1959 - Development of British diesel, electric and steam trains

This promotional film was produced in 1959 to educate the general public about the development of diesel, electric and steam engines in Britain. The film features many examples of motive power, both in England as well as locomotives exported to foreign countries, and includes scenes of the "Deltic" class diesel which were the most powerful locomotives at the time.

Swiss Railways

Views of the Standard and Metre gauge railways of Switzerland. Firstly, some frieght trains near Gotthard, famous for its pass, and very, very long tunnel. Secondly, a look at the lake and the Paddle Steamer 'Lotschberg', as well as some metre gauge traffic, at Brienz. Brienz, as many will know, is the bottom terminus of the Brienz and Rothorn Steam Rack Railway. A possible thing to come? Thirdly, some more metre gauge traffic at Realp, at the foot of the Furka pass. The station only serves a population of around 160, but is used for car transport trains, to carry travellers along the rail route, rather than negotiating the Furka pass itself, like we did. (In low thick cloud may I add!)

TV9 News : Hampi Express Accident, Railways Orders Probe......, At least 15 people were charred to death and over 50 were injured after the Bangalore-bound Hampi Express train rammed into a stationary goods train at Penukonda station, 400km south west of Hyderabad, in the Anantapur district of Andhra Pradesh early Tuesday morning. District police officials said that the accident happened at around 3:45am on Tuesday and three bogies, one SLR and two second class coaches bore the brunt of the rear-end collision. The first coach after the engine caught fire soon after the accident, probably due to short circuit and 8 charred bodies were recovered from it. Similarly, another 7 charred bodies were recovered from the third bogie which was mangled beyond recognition. Local revenue and police officials rushed to the spot soon after news spread and took up rescue and relief operations. Charu Sinha, DIG Police of Anantapur Range said that about 80 persons were rescued out of which 35 needed urgent medical attention. They were sent to nearby hospitals at Penugonda, Hindupur and Puttaparthi. Railways announced a probe into the accident. Commissioner of Railway Safety (Southern Circle), SK Mittal will conduct a statutory inquiry and has been asked to submit a report at the earliest. The Railway ministry has announced a compensation of Rs. 5 lakh for the dead, Rs. 1 lakh for grievous injuries and Rs. 50000 for simple injuries. Severn Valley Railway Spring Steam Gala Part 1

On the 24th of March 5:15 AM I got up made my way to Euston caught the 6:23 train to Birmingham new street. As I arrived a thick layer of mist covered the city. I made my way to Birmingham moor street station then caught the train to Kidderminster town. The sun began to burn off the Fog as the train reached its destination. I made my way a 50 yard walk to the Severn Valley Railways Station at Kidderminster town. With my pre booked ticket I made my way into the station onto the platform where I saw a familiar looking tank engine simmering nearby. Engines featured were A4 4464 Bittern BR Built J72 69023 GNR Ex LNER N2 1744 Ivatt 43106 Caledonian Goods 828 EX LMS Jinty 47406 on loan from the Great Central railway. Indian Railways..Exciting Diesel v/s Electric Parallel action in Mumbai.

A 5-min long continuous action wherein, Diesel competes with Electric..Thanks to the additional 5th & 6th line between Kurla & Thane..Witnessing some thrilling race on the suburban section of Central Railway in Mumbai has been more exciting than before. Assistant loco pilot of WDM3A # 18898 hauled late running 11042 Chennai - Mumbai express waves the flag to set off a race between my Pune WDG3A # 13064 hauled 11401 Nandigram express & the KYN WCAM3 # 21949 hauled 12143 LTT-Sultanpur Superfast express at Vidyavihar outer As we accelerate through Ghatkopar station we are crossed by a late running 12812 Hatia - LTT express taking the 6th line, followed by a high speed crossing with a 3xx EMU on the 4th line. After giving a tough fight, WDG3A finally gives up as it tries hard by puffing out some smoke, but is no match to the power of WCAM3, as the race finally ends at Vikhroli station. Hope you enjoy..!

Railways - Paul Dateh (Original)

My favorite way to travel is by rail. We have a few rail lines in LA, and I like to take them whenever I can. The Metro Gold Line is one of the nicest with awesome views of DTLA as you travel over the 101 freeway. It's a very calming ride, and I made this track to try and match that vibe.
