| Let me explain. Last year these got me through the icy/slippy winter. This year though, they tried to kill me. They had metal tags at the top of the laces and even though I tried rearranging them/changing the laces around, there would come a point where the laces would snag in the metal tags and trip me up. It first happened on my way to Abbey Road Studios on December 16th - I didn't fall. It then happened on Christmas Eve - I stayed upright. It then happened again on December 29th - I hit the ground HARD. I put my arms in front of my face and both arms and knees took a beating. I'm especially protective of my hands/arms after trouble with them in recent years anyway, so at this point I decided that the shoes had to die. I couldn't just bin them, I had to make sure they were dead. So, after work on December 29th, I took a stroll down to the field near where I live with the shoes, a can of deodorant and a box of matches. I sprayed the shoes and then tossed lit matches into them until eventually the left one took hold and BURNED. After a while the flames spread across to the right one as well. I wondered if I'd regret doing this, but actually I felt completely vindicated and justified in what I was doing. this is part two, where both shoes are on fire and I have a little bit of a muttering rant at them as well... |
