| Video of the 5th UK Wife Carrying Race on 18 March 2012 in Dorking, Surrey. Hay bale hurdles and an 'It's a knock-out' style water hazard (volunteers with buckets of cold water) make for a very British version of this Scandinavian 'sport.' All competitors win minikegs of beer from the Pilgrim Brewery, while the winners win a barrel of Pilgrim Ale (last placed finishers win the traditional Pot Noodle and tin of dog food). The winners in 2012, Tom and Kirsty Wilmott, the new British wife-carrying champions, are set to contest for the world title in Finland in July 2012. Good luck! |
