Run Wrake - Rabbit (2005)

A girl sees a rabbit running across a field. Thinking it would make an excellent muff, she pursues it with a knife. It escapes her, but her brother kills it. She slices it open, and out pops an animated idol that, when bothered by insects, turns them into feathers, bottles of ink, and jewels. Thinking of the riches of royalty, the boy and girl put the idol outside in a vat of plum jam and proceed to eviscerate various farm animals to draw hundreds of wasps and flies. The idol complies, and soon they've filled a bedroom with boxes of jewels. Off they go to town to trade the feathers and ink for more jam, but while they're gone, the idol is busy. Rabbit - Run Wrake

Run Wrake is known as an animator & illustrator, who has collaborated with Howie B & created visuals for U2's Vertigo tour. His latest short animation "Rabbit" has been very successful at many film festivals all round the world. The story is basically a very simple morality tale about greed, the dangers of greed & exploring nature. It came about when he found some 1950's stickers in a junk shop & thought it would be great to make a film out of them. There were about 200 different stickers. It took about 16 months from the start. He spent about one year for actual making animation and 4 months for pre-production. APEngine speaks to Run Wrake

Run Wrake, whose works includes 'Rabbit' and 'The Control Master' and who has collaborated with artists such as Howie B, talks to APEngine about his work. Run started experimenting with animation whilst studying Graphic Design at Chelsea School Of Art in the mid-eighties, initially as a means to combine images with music. A Masters degree in Animation at the Royal College Of Art followed, where he discovered the joy and potential of breaking down sound. He has since worked as a freelance Animation Director and illustrator, working on a wide variety of projects encompassing short film, music promos, television graphics, commercials, live visuals and illustration.
