Sweet Blackberry shares tales about African American culture and history...about the many fascinating and often unrecognized men and women whose legends are brought back to life in the stories we tell. Its mission is to get these stories to children everywhere-particularly those growing up in situations of poverty, racial and ethnic minorities, or youth at-risk of gang involvement -- have no experience or little exposure to systemic, proactive and targeted positive media that is rooted in education and culture. There are nearly 16 million US households with children under five years-old. When Karyn was growing up (around the age of five), her mother, a librarian in South Central Los Angeles, would often share stories with her daughter of African-American accomplishment.
