New World's Tallest Building - the Burj Dubai (Burj Khalifa)

The Tallest Building in the World - Burj Dubai! / Burj Khalifa Middle East

I went to the Burj Dubai (now known as the Burj Khalifa) and filmed the construction and then again six months later. Connect me on Facebook! www.facebook.com 66 to 124 floors in six months! The Burj Dubai tower is designed to be the centerpiece of a large-scale, mixed-use development that will include 30000 homes, nine hotels, 6 acres of parkland, 19+ residential towers, the Dubai Mall, and a large man-made lake. The complete 500 acre development will cost about $20 billion dollars (US). Once completed, the tower will cover a total of over 22 million square feet of development. The official height of the Burj Dubai is kept secret because of international competition, but current estimates have it rising to a height in excess of 2600 feet. Some estimate that it will be 189 floors or so - it is to be the tallest building in the world. Recently, the construction site already surpassed height needed to make it (uncompeted) the second tallest building in the world. Second Tallest Building ever imploded

Incredible footage of the second tallest building ever imploded! LANDMARK TOWER (formerly Continental National Bank & The Texas Building) - 200 W. 7th St. - 1952; 1956/57 - Imploded March 18, 2006. At the time of demolition, it was the Second Tallest Building in the World to be Imploded by Controlled Demolition, Tallest Building in the State of Texas to Be Imploded, and the Tallest Building in the State of Texas to be Demolished. It was also the first time in Fort Worth's History that a former tallest building in the city was torn down. The Landmark Tower was 30 stories and 380 feet tall. At one time, it had the World Largest Digital Clock, Revolving Clock, and 4 Sided Sign. It also had one of the longest straight run fire escapes at 31 floors from the main roof to the ground.
