| This wonderful airport , which was built in 10 weeks is due to be closed and sold off , leaving Berlin with a very costly white elephant .ie ) BER named Willy Brandt (Berlin & Brandenburg Airport )An extension of the appalling Schönefeld .Ever heard of a capital city with 1 airport ? I certainly have never heard of such a mess as this is.Scheduled to be opened year after year it has been a money guzzling flop ,Not only will it be too small,today came news re safety hazards- No June 3rd 2012 opening- surprise surprise Once again the date is changed MORE red faces .This has hit many airlines and they are left rescrambling .Terrible .Tegel saved Berlin at the end of WW2 and was extended to supplement Templehof for the Berlin Airlift .Minus Tegel west Berlin would have fallen into Soviet and DDR hands . Isnt it amazing that the new white , or rather 'red' elephant lies in East Germany and so far has been a costly ghastly inefficient mess. Keep Tegel say I . |
