| Jan. 2, 2010 Davis, Calif. - Dominic Calegari scored 20 points and Joe Harden had a double-double with 13 points and 12 rebounds Saturday night to lead UC Davis to a 67-63 victory over Cal State Fullerton in both teams' Big West Conference opener. Calegari made two clinching free throws with 21 seconds to play as the Aggies improved to 5-8. Gerard Anderson had 13 points and 9 rebounds and Aaron Thompson had 11 points and 6 rebounds for the Titans, who began the week leading the Big West in free-throw percentage but made only 13 of 28 free throw attempts and fell to 5-7. Davis led most of the game including 37-26 at the half and by as many as 14 points early in the second half, the last time at 42-28. But the Titans, who missed 11 of their first 16 free throws, drew as close as 46-40, fell back to 60-47 but came back again. Back-to-back 3-pointers by Thompson and Devon Peltier made it 64-60 and two Eric Williams free throws made it 64-62 with 32 seconds left. Ryan Sypkens missed two free throws for the Aggies and the Titans had the ball with a chance to tie or take the lead. But Thompson turned the ball over with 21 seconds left and then fouled Calegari, who made it 66-62. Each team added a late free throw. Fullerton outrebounded the hosts, 37-32, but committed 19 turnovers to 16 for the Aggies. Davis made 9 of 16 from the 3-point line (56 percent) while the Titans were 6 of 22 (27 percent).
