| Hey guys, this video was inspired by an unfortunate incident encountered while trying to install Flashme on my DS Lite. Flashme is a homebrew firmware modification program that involves writing extra code into your already existing DS Firmware. Its purpose is to allow GBA flashcarts to boot without a Passme or Slot 1 card in the DS, and it also removes the Health and Safety screen seen when turning the system on. But these features aren't worth it man. Just the fact that I am having to make this video should show you that it's way too much of a risk to install Flashme. After all, in order to install Flashme you actually have to bridge a metal connection in your DS, sort of like shorting a circuit. It's so risky dude, and I only got a partial install, partly because I was nervous while bridging the SL1 connection, and partly because I touched the metal piece next to that connection on the motherboard with my screwdriver, and shut off my DS prematurely before Flashme was completely installed. So what did I get? Hmm. Well, I got a bricked DS. THAT'S what I got. You can only imagine how amazingly angry I was at this whole Flashme thing. After some research I figured out that a bad flash can be repaired by replacing the Nintendo DS Lite BIOS Chip on the motherboard, which contains the BIOS as well as the actual DS Lite Firmware. Luckily, I have a spare DS Lite motherboard hanging around after breaking my first DS a long time ago, so I was able to salvage the BIOS from that old ... |
