Citroën WRC 2012 - Acropolis Rally - Friday

A long and intense day of competition, day two of the Acropolis Rally saw a non-stop battle between the leading four contenders. Although by no means unbeatable, Sébastien Loeb and Daniel Elena gained the upper hand over their rivals. The eight-time World Champions hold a 6.5s lead over the second-placed crew. Despite losing time on the day's final stage, Mikko Hirvonen and Jarmo Lehtinen still have every chance of securing a podium finish for the Citroën Total World Rally Team's second DS3 WRC.

Dubbed the 'Rally of Gods' by the organisers, the Greek round of the WRC saw Citroën Total World Rally Team reach Elysium with a superb overall result. The Sébastien Loeb/Daniel Elena and Mikko Hirvonen/Jarmo Lehtinen crews recorded their third one-two finish of the season to go with those obtained in Mexico and Argentina.

After claiming third and fifth place respectively in the qualifying stage, Sébastien Loeb and Mikko Hirvonen began the Acropolis Rally from strong starting positions. After the ceremonial start held in Athens, the rally kicked off this evening with a first, 25km-long stage.
