Facilitated by Denise Anthony, Associate Professor of Sociology and Research Director, Institute for Security, Technology, and Society, Dartmouth College. 1965 DAM article on Dartmouth students, including some of these speakers, who were engaging in civil rights activism Speaker Bios Associate Professor of Sociology Denise Anthony, former Chair (2007--11) of the Sociology Department, currently serves as Research Director of Dartmouth's Institute for Security, Technology, and Society and as a Faculty Affiliate with the Center for Health Policy Research at The Dartmouth Institute for Health Policy and Clinical Practice. Her research interests include collective action and trust, economic sociology, and the sociology of health care. Deeply moved by the Montgomery bus boycott and the Greensboro sit-ins, William Burton '65 participated in 1964 in voter registration work in the Mississippi Summer Project followup. This experience influenced him to remain actively involved in politics throughout his life. In 1991 he ran for and was elected as Town Supervisor of Ossining, New York.
