North Korean Defectors - Movie | Crossing 1 of 10

Keurosing Crossing 1 of 10 Crossing is a Korean movie which is going to be aired in late June 2008. The movie is based on a real story about the life of a North Korean defector and his family. Actor Cha In-pyo starred as a North Korean coal miner who crossed illegally into China to get medicine for his wife. His wife passed away soon after he crossed the border, and he was separated from his 11-year-old son (played by Shin Myung-chul) who was trying to trace him from North Korea. The story shares the hardship of North Korean refugees in the late 1990s, with famine striking the country and killed an estimated 1 million people. The North Koreans couldnt cross into South Korea directly because of landmines and heavy military presence at the border these defectors had to cross into China and made a de-tour to South Korea instead. The Chinese government, an ally of the North Korean regime, does not recognize the defectors as refugees and would send them back to North Korea to face stiff action. Crossing will represent South Korea as a candidate for the foreign film category at the 81st Academy Awards.

Crossing Trailer in English

Based on the real-life accounts of numerous North Korean refugees, the film centers on a family of three, the husband, Yong-soo, his wife, and their 11-year-old son. When Yong-soo's wife becomes seriously ill, he travels across the border into China in search of medicine but is ultimately forced to become a refugee in South Korea. Meanwhile, his ailing wife weakens through malnutrition and his son, desperate, decides to cross the desert in search of father. PSALT is a non-profit ministry dedicated to increasing awareness about the crisis in North Korea and mobilizing resources and action to aid those who are suffering. PSALT is working with the US producers of 'Crossing' to promote this film and raise awareness about the plight of North Korean refugees. Favorite part of The Crossing

The Crossing, presented by A&E with Jeff Daniels as George Washington has been one of my most favorite films I have ever seen. I did my best, even with my home computer on its last leg, to record a small segment of the opening minutes of Chapter 11 of the film, in which Washington marches on Trenton, New Jersey in order to attack the Hessian mercenaries and to save his army. The Crossing (1994) Part 1

This is an excellent evangelistic film about a young man who comes back from the dead to show his friend the great love of Christ and truth about the cross. This film has one great scene in it which shows what Christ did with our sins when He died. Very visual! A good cast and production makes this movie one of the best. Featuring: Kevin Downes, David White Director: John Schmidt Producer: John Schmidt, Bill Muir Distributor: Creative Youth Resources Not many teens can relate to the death of a close friend or family member. When you're young it's easy to think you're invincible or that, at least, death is far away. But with what high-schooler Jason Reynolds (Kevin Downes, "The Moment After") has been going through, he is faced with the reality that nothing is permanent. His best friend Matt (played by David White of "Mercy Streets") dies one day after battling leukemia. But just before his death he leaves a cryptic note for Jason: "don't forget my Friend's love". The pieces of the puzzle fall together for Jason as he is taken on a strange journey. First he visits a place where each sin every person ever commits is recorded for use in the courtroom (tallied by computer and printed on dot-matrix printers, no less). In a courtroom he visits next the eternal fate of each person is decided upon: life with God in heaven or eternal separation?
