A characteristic pitch of 415.3 Hz was chosen which is lower than the modern Concert pitch of 440Hz. This pitch favors the colors of the baroque strings and Continuo. Bowing patterns, articulation, trills and ornamentation are all based on German baroque performance practice. www.sunghajung.com Sungha's 1st CD'Perfect Blue' is now available. Sungha plays 'Air on a G-String' arranged by Peo Kindgren. The "Air on the G String" is an adaptation by August Wilhelmj of the Air from Johann Sebastian Bach's Orchestral Suite No. 3 in D major, BWV 1068. The original orchestral suite was written by Bach for his patron Prince Leopold of Anhalt sometime between the years 1717 and 1723. The title comes from violinist August Wilhelmj's late 19th century arrangement of the piece for violin and piano. By transposing the key of the piece from its original D major to C major and transposing the melody down an octave, Wilhelmj was able to play the piece on only one string of his violin, the G string.

August Wilhelm modified the composition in 19th century, but I play the D major original on my Yamaha P140 digital piano.
