| SCOOP ON NEW PEACHES FILM, IVORY TOWER: Peaches called me on my cell phone (I didn't recognize the number). A few hours earlier, I sent an email to her Hotmail account saying I heard she was in town and asked for an ArtStars* interview. She called and said: Yo, its Peaches! If you want an interview, come on down to Thrush Holmes Empire tonight, and bring some friends because we need extras. Can you act for us? Thats journalism star as an extra (as a clapping audience member alongside Gentleman Reg), to score an interview with Peaches. The Berlin-based performance artist and musician, who has her roots in Toronto, was in town a few weeks ago starring in Ivory Tower a film about two chess-competing brothers vying for Peaches love. It is co-written by Chilly Gonzales, produced by Nicolas Kazamia and stars Tiga, Peaches and Gonzales. Her character is (surprise, surprise!) a performance artist named Martha Thirteen who does violinstallations, that is, playing the violin with LED-lit fingertips that never touch the actual instrument. While most artists are too snooty to step down from their ivory towers to talk to us (youll see Feist shying away from my microphone), Peaches was quite the opposite after the interview, she told us she was a fan of ArtStars* and cited the Powerball episode and the Wham City episode as two of her favourites. Its a good angle, she said. Ivory Tower will be released in the fall. artstarstv.com Host: Nadja Sayej Camera: Jeremy Bailey Editor: Krzysztof ... |
