Incredible Breathtaking Shelf Cloud comes ashore in Grand Haven, MI on July 18, 2010

This is amazing footage captured in 1080p of the best shelf cloud I have seen to date coming ashore off Lake Michigan in Grand Haven, MI. I arrived somewhat early for the show and setup on the public beach just south of the State Park in Grand Haven and managed to capture this incredible scene. While the winds were very sub severe (I measured 22.8MPH on my anemometer), the structure was breathtakingly beautiful. This storm definitely takes the cake for the best shelf cloud to date. I am astorm chaser based in Norman, OK. Rarely do those words ring as true as in these recent images from the Lunar Reconnaissance Orbiter. Revel in the detail of these images, and the severity of the Lunar surface, then be thankful you're relaxing on a green and blue world sheltered from the hostile environment of space.

NOAA Titanic Expedition 2004: Breathtaking Wreck Footage

Breathtaking... Nearly 20 years after first finding the sunken remains of the RMS Titanic, marine explorer Robert Ballard returned in June 2004 helped by the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), Office of Ocean Exploration to study the ship's rapid deterioration. The RMS Titanic team worked aboard the NOAA Ship Ronald H. Brown from May 30 through June 9 spending 11 days at the wreck site, mapping the ship and conducting scientific analysis of its deterioration. Using the Institute for Exploration (IFE) remotely operated vehicles (ROV's) Hercules and Argus, to conduct a sophisticated documentation of the state of Titanic was not possible in the 1980's. This "Look, don't touch" mission utilized high-definition video and stereoscopic still images to provide an updated assessment of the wreck site at an enormous depth of 3840 meters (12600 feet). As the nation's ocean agency, NOAA has a vested interest in the scientific and cultural aspects of the Titanic, and in its appropriate treatment and preservation. NOAA's focus is to build a baseline of scientific information from which we can measure the shipwreck's processes and deterioration, and then apply the knowledge we gain to other deep-water shipwrecks and submerged cultural resources. Breathtaking A personal investigation into the present-day use of asbestos Documentary Trailer

Why is Canada still mining asbestos when we don't use it ourselves? Breathtaking: a personal investigation into the present-day use of asbestos Directed by Kathleen Mullen, 43 min. Breathtaking takes on the asbestos industry through a moving and personal investigation into the death of Kathleen's father from Mesothelioma, and the confounding present-day use of asbestos that continues to exact a human toll. Valued since pre-history and commercially mined since the Industrial Revolution, asbestos was nicknamed the 'magic mineral' for its fabric-like properties and its capacity to protect against fire, and was used in everything from brake pads to oven mitts. After it was discovered to be carcinogenic, asbestos use was banned from use in many countries and limited in others. But Canada, along with Russia and several other countries, still mines asbestos and exports it for use in developing nations. With moving clips of her dying father's legal testimony, family photos, and Super 8 home movies as a narrative springboard, Mullen takes the audience on an investigative journey from her family's home in British Columbia to Quebec, India and Detroit, painting a global, yet still personal picture of the many lives affected by the continued use of asbestos.
