| Fog has been inserted into all of the camera shots to hide imperfections in the rendering. However, I have made the fog look like freezing fog (with glazed trees), which is not uncommon at this particular ski resort. The trees are generic tree models, from the 3D Google modeling database. There were almost 700 tree models used for the video, along with 110 chairs, 18 lift towers, and 7 lift stations. The chairlifts and ski lodge are all custom built. The Google Earth Map at the introduction of the video is custom built as well and may become a new standard of representing ski resort trail maps. The trickiest part was making sure each object intersected the terrain. I used Screencast O Matic to record the video, at 150 frames a second. |
