| Ringing this lovely-sounding, but challenging five in South Worcestershire. As you would expect from Gillett & Johnston bells, they are tonally excellent. They do not currently go very well, although this would probably be solved by oiling the plain bearings. The draft is also long, and the ropes extremely springy. I rang the 3rd for the quarter peal we rang after this and had to pull like hell to keep the bell up, and dodging was sometimes difficult. However, in a strange sort of way, it was very enjoyable and the sound of the bells made it well worthwhile. |
