DOJ to Criminalize Uploading to YouTube! - Infowars Nightly News

Racketeering charges for violating website's terms of service Paul Joseph Watson www.infowars.com Tuesday, November 15, 2011 The Department of Justice is attempting to criminalize uploading videos that break You Tube's terms of service, along with any other online action that is deemed to contravene a website's usage policy, in a shocking expansion of cybersecurity laws deemed draconian by critics. "In a statement obtained by CNET that's scheduled to be delivered tomorrow, the Justice Department argues that it must be able to prosecute violations of Web sites' often-ignored, always-unintelligible "terms of service" policies," writes Declan McCullagh. Such violations would include creating a fake Facebook profile, lying about your weight on dating websites, or providing any other item of false information that violates a website's TOS agreement. Under the DOJ's new legal framework, an expansion of the Computer Fraud and Abuse Act (CFAA), agreeing to a website's terms of service would be identical to signing a contract with an employer, with similar punishments for breaking that contract. "To the Justice Department, this means that a Web site's terms of service define what's "authorized" or not, and ignoring them can turn you into a felon," writes McCullagh, pointing out that millions of Americans violate 'terms of agreement' policies every single day. Indeed, in the case of You Tube, users are often informed months or even years later that they may have infringed on the ...

Obama's DOJ Cracks Down on Medical Marijuana: California vs. The Feds

The federal government is in the midst of a crackdown on medical marijuana dispensaries across the state of California. This is despite repeated claims from President Obama and his Department of Justice that they would not devote federal resources to circumventing state medical marijuana laws. "The law has been hijacked by profiteers who are motivated not by compassion, but by money," said Melinda Haag, one of California's US Attorneys, at a DOJ press conference on October 11, 2011. Aaron Sandusky, owner of G3 Holistic, a group of medical marijuana dispensaries in California's Inland Empire, is one such target of the DOJ's crackdown on medical marijuana "profiteers." The DOJ sent him a letter promising to shut down his operations within 14 days. And they followed through. Reason.tv talked to Sandusky, who's long battled the city of Upland's sordid handling of medical marijuana dispensaries, before and after he was raided. "We all want the same thing," said Sandusky. "We want to see less crime. That's why we have these places." Sgt. Glenn Walsh and Agent Mark Brewster, both members of the California Narcotic Officer's Association, believe that the stepped up enforcement from the DOJ is a positive development. "There's no avenue in the law, whatsoever, to accommodate the sales of marijuana," Brewster said. Walsh concurs, arguing that California's Prop 215 and SB 420 allow for the collective cultivation of medical marijuana but do not allow for a single cent to exchange ...

DOJ Attempts to Install Monitor in Sheriff Joe's Office

Patrick Henningsen www.infowars.com www.prisonplanet.tv twitter.com www.facebook.com April 6, 2012 PHOENIX -- Arizona continues to set the stage as a battleground pitting local and state's rights against the federal government's inclination to control how states are allowed to govern their own affairs. The Department of Justice in Washington has accused Sheriff Joe Arapio's Office of engaging in what they describe as 'racial profiling and mistreatment of illegals aliens and hispanics' and alleged 'human rights violations' in its patrols and jails. The DOJ has refused to present any of its alleged evidence to support their charges, yet, they are still moving forward and are threatening to sue if Arpaio does not comply. Not intimidated by Washington's threats, Maricopa County's own Attorney General Bill Mongomery told the DOJ yesterday, "put up or shut up". Negotiations between the Sheriff's Office and the DOJ came to a halt on Tuesday when Arpaio flatly refused to allow a court-appointed embedded DOJ "monitor" stationed in his office full-time, a move which many critics describe as a federal power-grab, aimed at controlling Arpaio, a duly elected office holder representing 4.5 million residents in the Phoenix area. www.infowars.com
