| Got this old piece of iron from grandma, grandpa left several years ago and the engine had been unused since then, probably 10 or 11 years ago. When I first tried to start, it would not run (nothing) and I suspected it was lack of spark. So I tried another spark plug, but not with much help. Also when turning the engine around by hand it felt like a huge loss of compression, almost none at all. The next step was the ignition system, and discovered that this engine has points and condenser, this might be the cause. I cleaned the points with som fine sand paper and pressured air. THEN, - I got spark! I got it running, and it ran for a couple of seconds. After that, I got the camera and "videoed" the second start... Later while trying to adjust the carb, I noticed that the adjuster screws were rusted stuck, trying to force it I broke the mixture screw :( - I need a new carb... Unknow year produced and unknown displacement, but it is 7HP, ball bearing and ACR (Automatic Compression Release) This explaned the loss of compression. |
