| Ross Homel is an international leader in criminology and one of Australias foremost social scientists. He graduated with a PhD in Psychology in 1986. Ross research and community leadership have contributed significantly to Australias development of social policy, justice reform, and the lives of families in disadvantaged communities. His research was instrumental in the introduction of Random Breath Testing and his focus on early childhood intervention has placed Australia at the forefront of early developmental crime prevention. As an academic, community leader and policy advisor, Ross has had a major impact on crime prevention in Australia, the UK and other countries. In 2008, his work was recognised with an Order of Australia for service to education, particularly in the field of criminology. That same year he was honoured as a Queensland Great by the Premier of Queensland, for his contribution to Queenslands reputation for research excellence, the development of social policy and justice reform and helping Queenslands disadvantaged communities. |
