| Din's Curse is a Diablo-style action RPG featuring hybrid classes and an amazing dynamic world. In a typical game, even if the level is randomly generated, all of the quests will still be statically designed. In Din's Curse, however, quests are generated procedurally from the interactions of randomly-generated enemy factions and bosses. For example, you might see a message that the undead have declared war on the goblins. Later, you reach the level where they were fighting, and you find a large number of undead goblins who had been killed by the undead and risen as zombies. Similarly, you could be given a mission to destroy an earthquake machine (also, dynamically built by one of the randomly-generated boss monsters), only to take so much time in doing so that an NPC adventurer tries to complete the mission instead of you but gets captured. This NPC will then have to be rescued - and they can absolutely die, despite being a quest-essential NPC (though the game goes on if they do). In this video, I was playing as a Wizard, and Lancustran (the other guy) was playing as a hybrid Necromancer / Defender. Props to Lancustran for introducing me to this game and hosting the server (and saving my ass on numerous occasions as you'll see in this video). If the beginning of this video bores you, skip to 1 minute 15 seconds. |
